Let's be reaiistic. Art must first be perceived before we
can begin to "appreciate" its true value.
To do this, we need an "art object," a physically tangible material or medium that has been manipulated into a form that has meaning and worth to us. Art objects physically affect the movement of light (sight), air (sound and touch), can have an odor (smell), and have a flavor (taste). In other words, art does not exist unless it is in an "object" form able to spark our sensory organs. This is why Marshall McLuhan, a now famous "macro" thinker, was able to claim that "The medium is the message."
